NEWS: This summer I have been accepted as one of thirty resident artists for the Dartmoor Summer School of Photography. To raise funds for international travel to participate in this important learning opportunity, I am selling prints from a catalog of images made between 2015-2019. Melissa is a Texas photographer and interdisciplinary artist currently living and working in Dallas. Primarily autobiographical, her work focuses on the intersection of intimacy in personal space and the wildness found in the natural world. Trained as a librarian and self-taught in photography, history and preservation of the everyday moment has become her primary focus through lensbased work. She has exhibited her photography in several group shows in Texas with one solo show in Houston, Texas in May of 2019. The dialogue between self and land, family and space, is a sacred and often hidden thread that informs much of a cultural and personal identity. To find the heartbeat of personal evolution , she relies on both the impartiality of the natural world and the intimacy of interior space. She photographs home and landscape with a desire to find the connective tissue between both.
